House Issues Logo Refresh

Pictured Above:
The Original "House Issues" Logo

The OG “House Issues” Logo was in need of a refresh, and we were reached out to by Antonio Pelayo Productions to work on a Logo refresh for the event.

We got together on a group message with the other investors of the event and they shared that they were looking for something cleaner and more appealing to their supportive Latino audience. They wanted it to be memorable and iconic.

Below is the progression of the logo, which unfortunately was not approved in the end, but it was a step in the right direction as they moved forward with their endeavors.

Sometimes you have to see what you don’t want to know what you truly want, and that’s totally ok with OM! We appreciate the opportunity to explore, and wish them the best with future events!

Round 1 | 3 Versions

This was the initial exploration away from the current logo, which featured a cleaner “Hi” smiley and added in the “House Issues” name with two font options that tied in nicely to their Latin roots.

Very urban while still maintaining legibility and professionalism.

Round 2 | “C” exploration

With full support on font “C” we moved to round 2 with various takes on the layout of the smiley icon + words.

They wanted to move away from a wide logo and more towards something tight and square-shaped.

We also introduced an emphasis on “Antonio Pelayo’s” and “Jack of All Tribes”.

With the additional text being included, it was important to keep everything contrasting enough to be read without overwhelming the viewer.

Round 3 | Simple stack

Boxy and stacked was the name of the game at this point.

But something was still not right…

Round 4 | Weight Distribution

A new challenge came up when requests for the icon to be larger came about, so we came up with two versions, one without interaction between the icon + words, and one with interaction between the two.

You can see here how big of a big difference slight adjustments can make.

Round 5 | The last Go

The final round, we decided to have the interaction be more symmetrical.

This final round felt complete and fluid with the unique touch of inverted text in the middle, working in color, black, and white.

However, the design was ultimately rejected.

Final say

It was a fun run and a really enjoyable project to work on, but sometimes we really can’t tell what we want until we see what we don’t.

Here are OM, we understand and value the complex human condition - and a change of mind is never an issue. We fulfill our requests with your peace of mind, in mind.

House Issues has since blossomed into an amazing event.
